Dear Krokeates and friends Due to anticipated low attendance we regretfully have decided to CANCEL our 55 th convention scheduled to take place in Staten Island NYC, July 3-5 2009. The present economic downturn, a Krokean wedding which is to take place July 4 th in nearby Waterbury CT , (of which we were not aware ) and over the past weekend the passing of our fellow Krokeatisa friend and relative Noula Mitropoulos, sister of Dimitri (Mimis) and Nassos Daphnis ( Kakas ) in NYC, may have contributed to this projected low attendance. We would like to thank all of you who were planning to attend and those of you who purchased and returned your convention raffle tickets and or have send in your annual dues. The raffle drawing will take place the last weekend of July in Staten Island NYC , and will be conducted by Krokeai society officers and convention committee members. Please return any raffle tickets you may have purchased or sold along with your check by July 18 2009 to: The educational awards drawing will also take place the last weekend of July and will be conducted by the educational awards committee in Boston . Please return your Educational awards application by July 18 to: Both, the raffle and educational awards winners will be posted on our web site and will also be announced through our regular correspondence. We would greatly appreciate receiving your annual dues, as our society's annual operating expenses and obligations remain. Thank you for your support and understanding.
