Αθανάσιος ( Σούλης) Καλοϊδής ( 1945 - 10/1/2008) :   απεβίωσε εντελώς απρόσμενα μετά  από εγκεφαλικό ανεύρυσμα. Ο Θανάσης, ενας επιτυχημένος εστιάτορας , ήταν σύζυγος της Τούλας ( κόρη του Γιάννη Στρατάκη) και πατέρας του Γιάννη και Βασίλη στο Waterbury , CT  των ΗΠΑ.
Ο Θανάσης γεννήθηκε στο Βασιλακίον ( Ταραψα)  και τελείωσε το γυμνάσιο στις Κροκεές. Ήταν ενεργό μέλος (σώγαμπρος ) του συλλόγου μας και είχε λάβει μέρος σε πολλά συνέδρια. Τελευταία ήταν μαζί μας (δεξιά) με την σύζυγό του στο 53ο συνέδριο στη Ουάσινγκτον τον Ιούλιο 2007

Obituary

Mr. Athanasios "Athan" Kaloidis, 62 of 2065 Middlebury Road, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his entire loving family on Thursday, January 10, 2008. He was the devoted husband of Demetra "Toula" (Stratakis) Kaloidis.

Mr. Kaloidis was born in Tarapsa, Sparta, Greece on December 5, 1945, son of the late Vasilios George and Eleni (Nikolakakos) Kaloidis. He was educated in Greece, and served as a Seargeant in the Greek Army. He came to the United States in 1970, and lived in Middlebury for the past 33 years.

Mr. Kaloidis was the owner and proprietor of Spartan Restaurant in Waterbury for over 30 years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Waterbury, and a member of AHEPA. He was avidly involved in Harness Racing for over 20 years, and later became an avid golfer. He will always be remembered for his big heart, his wonderful smile, and the kindness and generosity he had for others.

Besides his wife Toula of 34 years, Mr. Kaloidis is survived by two sons: Vasilios "Vasi" Kaloidis of Middlebury, and Ioannis "John" Kaloidis, and his wife Cheryl of Waterbury; a brother: Constantine "Gus" Kaloidis, and his wife Anne of Woodbury; three sisters: Ioanna Ekonomou, and her husband Haralambos of Athens, Greece, Stamatina Arahovitis, and her husband George of Sparta, Greece, and Evangelia "Eva" Sfinarolakis, and her husband Eftihi

"Steve" of Woodbury; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ioannis and Garifalia Stratakis of Sparta, Greece, and several nieces & nephews. Mr. Kaloidis was predeceased by a brother: George Vasilios Kaloidis.

Arrangements: Funeral will be held Monday, 9:00 AM from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Chase Parkway for a service at 10:00 AM.

Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 3-7 PM at the funeral home. AHEPA will meet at the funeral home at 6:00 PM. There will be a Trisagion service at the funeral home on Sunday at 6:30 PM.
